Facilities

Sauna

Our saunas are built out of aspen and alder wood with stunning views across the fields. Wood-fired, high output Harvia stoves heat the room easily.

The saunas are heated to approximately 80-85°C. This provides an enjoyable heat level while also allowing you to experience the eucalyptus infused löyly comfortably. We recommend 5-15 minutes of sauna time per cycle.

Cold plunge

We have two ice single person baths chilled to 7°C. The third, large 4-person tub is ambient, so it adjusts in line with air temperature. In winter, the temperature will be anywhere from 5 to 15°C degrees, in summer, around 15-25°C. The plunge pools baths are continually filtered and sanitised.

We recommend 30 seconds to 3 minutes, if you are new to taking a cold plunge, please be cautious.

Showers

Three outdoor showers are available, one cold, two warm. These are open air, similar to at a beach - and mean you can rinse off while taking in the view of the hills and sheep!

We ask that you take a shower when you come out of the sauna, before plunging.

Rest
Chill out by the wood burning firepit, between hot and cold cycles or at the end of your session.

Feel the fresh air and enjoy the view of the trees and sound of the birds.

 â€‹â€‹
Water
We provide unlimited free water and recommend you hydrate before, during and after your sauna session.

Bring a bottle if you have one, if not, cups are available.
Changing and lockers
Private changing cubicles are available.

For belongings, combination code lockers are available for small valuables such as phones and keys. These are easy to use and mean that you don't have to carry a key around with you during your session.

For other belongings such as clothes, coats and shoes, cubby holes and a shoe rack are on hand.

Pub and campsite

We are situated just next to the popular countryside pub, The New Delight. The pub is open Wednesday to Sunday and serves food on Fridays and Sundays. (If you’re planning to have an alcoholic drink, please save it for after your sauna session, not before.)

If you’d like to stay right next to us, the adjacent Hebden Bridge Camping is only 30 second walk from iglu, and caters for for camper vans and tents.

Saunas

Our saunas are purpose built, Nordic style, and are wood-fired. The benches and made out of aspen and alder wood, and the frame out of heat treated Finnish pine (Thermowood). As the sauna warms, the natural aromas of the wood infuse the air.

We aim to keep the temperature the same in both saunas of about 85 degrees celsius. This will fluctuate from anywhere to 70 to 95 degrees, so do listen to your body and adjust where you sit depending on how the heat feels to you.

Our saunas have small porches that act as an airlock, keeping the heat in when guests enter and exit.

You will find a bucket of eucalyptus infused water beside the stove - we recommend pouring two to three ladles on the stones every 10-15 minutes. Make sure to check in with other guests about their löyly preferences.

The sauna you are booking for will be indicated when you book.

Onni

The larger of the two saunas, Onni is built to comfortably seat 10 people, with tiered benches so you can choose your heat level.

Onni is a barrel style sauna with a large panoramic window, giving it a light and open feeling. See what birds you can spy out of the window.

Onni means "happiness" or "luck" in Finnish - and we think you’ll leave feeling a little of both.

Taika

The experience in Taika is cosier and can be more intense as the space heats up faster. It also has a panoramic window overlooking the trees. The arched shape encourages the loyly steam to distribute around the sauna.

In Lithuanian, Taika refers to "peace" and "tranquility", in Finnish, it means "magic".

Taika is a great option for a private booking for small numbers.
