We're excited to share our upcoming dates and titles for our monthly sauna book club.
Join us for a book club experience with a difference! Chat about great books with fellow book enthusiasts, while moving through the relaxing hot/cold sauna cycle.
Afterwards, sit back and relax in our chill-out area, where you can continue the conversation over a hot drink and a slice of cake or a cookie.
If you want to come but don't have time to finish the book, don't worry! Whether you are an avid reader or just love a good chat, this is a welcoming space for all.
The books are:
Here Again Now by Okechukwu Nzelu - Thursday 6 November 2025
This moving, beautifully written novel explores love, friendship, family, and the complexities of grief, following three men whose lives become intertwined in unexpected ways. It’s a story about connection, vulnerability and what it means to genuinely care for someone.
The Safekeep by Yale van der Wouden - Thursday 4 December 2025
December’s Sauna Book Club read is The Safekeep by Yael van der Wouden. Winner of the Women’s Prize for Fiction 2025, this darkly atmospheric and compelling novel set in 1961 in post Nazi-era Netherlands, explores secrets, sexuality, inheritance, and family dynamics and fractures. It asks how far we go to protect what we think belongs to us, and what happens when those boundaries blur.
The Driver's Seat by Muriel Spark - Thursday 8 January 2026
January 2026’s book is The Driver’s Seat by Muriel Spark. First published in 1970, this short and rather unsettling novel is often described as Spark’s most daring work. Following the eccentric and unpredictable Lise, the story spirals into a darkly comic and disturbing meditation on fate, control and self-destruction. Both shocking and brilliant, it’s a modern classic that stays in your mind long after the last page!
How to book
You can now book your place for the next three sessions in one by clicking on the programmes tab on the booking page. This adds a slight discount from booking the sessions individually.
We hope you can sign up for all three, but if not, there’s also an option to book individually too. Just find the specific date you wish to book and choose the book club session on the calendar.
Once you have signed up, either pick the books up at the library or purchase them via World of Books (links above). We can't wait to see you soon!
