A sizzling start to the year for iglu book club

The first few months of 2026 at iglu book club have felt a little bit magical! We have been all over the press and we're still coming down from the excitement. You may have seen or heard us in The BBC, The Times, BBC Radio Leeds, BBC Look North, and even on BBC Breakfast!
Filming and photographing inside a sauna is no easy feat. We've had reporters in swimwear, photographers taking off layers, using our phones instead of fancy cameras, and lots of wiping down steamy lenses - but seeing it in the press has been so lovely.
The magic continued when Rozie Kelly, writer and book club facilitator found out her novel Kingfisher has been longlisted for the Women’s Prize for Fiction 2026! We celebrated with a plastic cup of Nozecco and a slice of strawberry cheesecake and we are beyond proud. If you've not read Kingfisher yet, we strongly recommend you add it to your list!
So we've had press, longlisting, awards and a little bit of fame, and it's been very exciting - but what we love most of all is when we get right down to what we do best at iglu book club - having beautiful conversations about books (and life) while going through the hot and cold cycle, and then relaxing by the fire with a homemade snack and a hot drink.
Our 2026 books so far have included: American Dirt by Jeanine Cummins, The Driver's Seat by Muriel Spark, and The City and Its Uncertain Walls by Haruki Marukami - an eclectic mix to say the least. On Thursday 9 April we're reading Another Brooklyn by Jacqueline Woodson, and you are most welcome (though the session is filling up fast!)
We wanted to end this blog with a shout out to some of the delicious home-made snacks we've been eating at iglu book club and those who have made it for us!
Our sweet home-made treats have included: Rozie's chocolate flapjacks, Dom's chocolate brownies, and Ross's fresh strawberry cheesecake and Hungarian layered chocolate cake. Each and every bite has been utterly delicious, and we officially leave book club feeling well-fed and well-read.
